Hiya Friend! Welcome to the July (practically August) Handlender Connection newsletter! I definitely planned to send this out much earlier, but I’m operating on a two-week delay for just about everything in life right now. In my defense, it is 2020, and Murphy’s Law is trying to rear its ugly head. So I get a pass for the entire year. Don’t worry - you do too. Anyway, I’ve got some exciting news to share! When we receive an urgent request, a notification will be sent to your entire community so you can get the help you need, really fast. Be sure to only use this option when your need is truly urgent, because, well… we’ve all read the story, “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” 3. We’ve launched TWO new marketing videos to encourage organizations and potential members to join Handlender! (Woo-hoo! A little more "pep" anyone?) Take a peek and let us know what you think. Then, share them with everyone you know!
4. We're making Progress on the Process! Remember those behind-the-scenes processes that we were working on? Well, we’re making some really good progress on that too. It’s a lot of work, but well worth the effort when all is said and done –especially for the team processing the requests! I’ll be sure to let you know when it’s up and running! Hiya Friend, June 2020's Handlender Connection is here (granted, a little late), and we're keeping it short and simple! I hope you’re doing well and making the most out of life regardless of all that is going on in the world today. Speaking of the world, I recently read a Twitter post where someone likened living in today’s times to experiencing the Civil War, Spanish Flu, Great Depression, Civil Rights Movement, Watergate, and the Dustbowl---all at once! Sounds about right, eh? I couldn't help but laugh. Anyway, whether you’re livin’ it up in your PJ’s everyday, or making moves like never before, we’ve all got something to be thankful for. And we, at Handlender, have a lot of gratitude in our hearts for our supporters, members, and networks that keep us moving along when things aren’t going and growing as fast as we’d like. STAY TUNED! Handlender Updates... I’d love to tell you that I have some major updates this month, but all of our “works” are still in progress, so there’s not a ton to share. I suppose that can be expected with any new business, right? On the upside, we’ve made a few more connections with local leaders and members of organizations who have, in turn, shared information about Handlender with others in their networks. Our meetings have also sparked a few new ideas as we continue settling into our niche. On top of that, we've connected with a group of individuals who were kind enough to donate their time to making some of the “behind the scenes” processes run a whole lot smoother. The work they’re doing will help us manage and process your requests faster, and make it easier for you to lend a hand to other members. They’ve shared a proof of concept with me, and it looks promising! MEMBER ZONE!How are you holding up? Need anything? (Food? Transportation? Temporary Housing? Something else?) I hope you are continuing to stay healthy, happy, and hopeful. Nowadays, it seems that no matter where you turn, everyone’s talking about the “C” word. It can be exhausting, confusing, scary, and in some cases, downright annoying. So, how about a break? Let's play "Guess Who?!"  Guess whose trademark has been published in the Trademark Official Gazette? – OURS! (Happy dance, anyone?) This means we’re in the home stretch for obtaining a certificate of registration. If there aren't any parties who file a notice of opposition, then we are in the clear and can expect our certificate in a couple of months!  Guess who initiated marketing on social media? – WE DID! We created a Facebook business page and have already received a decent number of “likes.” Thank you to those of you who have shown your support. If you haven’t already, please add us to your Friends list and give us a thumbs up! Then, share our page with your friends! We hope to add more content and grow our presence in the coming weeks and months, so stay tuned!  Guess who’s been paying attention to the member "Give Aways” page? – YOU! We were thrilled this month to see our members are claiming many of the free items posted on our site. Keep checking back as we add to the list!  Remember: If you have items (furniture, clothing, books, toys, etc.) in good condition that you’d like to give away, let us know! You never know who’s in need, and it always feels good to lend a hand. In The Works We’re continuing to reach out to local organizations to share the benefits of joining Handlender. I’ve found that the communication goes further when we already have a connection to someone inside the organizations. So, I’m asking for your help: Would you be willing to connect us with your colleagues, friends, or family members who are a part of local churches or community-style organizations? I’d love to meet with them and find out if Handlender is a good fit for their organization. You can click here to share their contact info. We’re also looking to make connections with various business owners and advisors who are familiar with platforms like ours. There’s so much for us to learn on this journey of expansion, and we value every nugget we pick up along the way.
