Attention, Attention! This month's newsletter is coming to you straight from the new website! That's right:

 Handlender.com is up and running!

You probably heard the exciting news about the website launch a couple of weeks ago, because we just couldn't wait to tell you about it! And if you haven't noticed, we've also transferred your membership information over to the new website database--you should have gotten an email confirmation from us.

But, guess what? There's more!

We're officially registered as Handlender, LLC, which means we're a real company and a legal entity! Whoop!

And we've started the trademark protection process.

Next up, we'll be working on the Give Away page, which should be coming your way soon.  One step at a time, right?

In the meantime, keep sending us your photos of items you want to give away to your fellow Handlenders!

Handlender Launch!

Comments

Read Now

Woohoo! It’s been just over two weeks since the alpha launch of Handlender! We’re even more excited than we were when we first launched, and here’s why:
  • We’ve already grown to 40+ members
  • We’ve started receiving requests for help
  • We’ve found helpers for those requests...
...and it’s all because of you!  So, an enormous thanks to our first wave of members!

On That Note...Some of our members, and soon-to-be members, have inquired about how Handlender works. So, we put together a short FAQ list that will hopefully clear up any misperceptions:

When I join Handlender, does it mean that I am required to help? No. Signing up for Handlender simply means that you are adding your skills and services to a database. And, just because you can help, doesn't mean you have to help.

Do the Requesters know whether I can help before I agree to help them? No. Names, contact information, or availability is not shared with the Requester until you agree to help with their specific request, even if your skills match their needs. So, as a helper, you never have to feel bad if you’re unable or unavailable to help.

Should I only add expert or professional skills and services to the database? No -- add everything you’re able to do! Of course we want you to add the professional stuff, but if you’re pretty good at whatever “it” is, or even capable and willing, then you’re perfect for the job.

If I help someone, or they help me, should either of us expect payment? No. Our name is Handlender for a reason -- the idea is for our members to occasionally lend a hand. However, whenever you help another member,  you’ll receive Handlender Points from our system, which will eventually earn you a little cash.

What are Handlender Points?Handlender Points are our reward to you for being awesome! Whenever you help another member, you’ll receive one or more Handlender points, based on the feedback of the requester. In some cases, simply being willing to help with a request will also earn you points. When you reach 30 points, you’ll receive a $25 gift card…and everybody likes gift cards.

Website Updates
We’ve been busy getting the alpha launch going, so not much has changed with the official website, but hang in there...it’s coming!

In the interim, we’d like to create a webpage where you can browse the free items that other members are giving away. So, if you’ve told us that you have items to give away, send pictures of your items to [email protected] and we’ll add them to our collection.

‘Til Next Time
That’s all for this month’s newsletter! Keep your eyes peeled for the next one so you’ll always be up to date with what’s going on. If there’s something specific you’d like to know regarding Handlender, send us an email and we’ll include it in a future newsletter!

As always, thank you for supporting or being a part of the Handlender network!
